Project Description
The Hyde County CDBG Small Business and Entrepreneurial Assistance Projects helped to fund small businesses in Hyde County that served an underserved population, including primarily low to moderate income. One of the businesses served was a small locally owned grocery store in Swan Quarter that worked with local farmers to sell their produce. The result was that folks in the Swan Quarter community no longer had to drive over 30 miles to the nearest grocery store which was outside of the county.
The second SBEA grant helped to help construct an addition to the grocery store that housed a hardware store. The nearest Lowe’s Home Improvements was at least an hour away. Insight staff helped navigate the program, including all compliance issues as well as required LMI income verifications and helping the County with issues with their revolving loan fund.
