Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)

Staff at Insight Planning and Development have been managing Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs since Hurricane Fran in 1996. In fact, we have handled over 75 HMGP acquisitions, elevations, reconstructions, and tenant relocation projects and have as much direct hands-on experience with these projects as any firm in the Southeast.

Some of the largest programs in the Southeast have been run by Insight; this list includes:

  • Belhaven NC Elevation project after Hurricane Fran in 1996

  • City of Washington NC Acquisition and Elevation project after Hurricane Fran in 1996

  • Beaufort County NC Elevation project after Hurricane Bonnie in 1998

  • City of Greenville NC Acquisition project after Hurricane Floyd in 1999

  • Hertford County NC Relocation project after Tropical Storm Allison in 2001 (Relocation)
