Project Description

The Town of Columbus Comprehensive Plan was prepared to comply with NCGS 160D requirements to establish a foundation for the development of a Unified Development Ordinance.  Emphasis was placed on preservation of the community’s small-town atmosphere, natural assets, wildlife habitat protection, support of the tourist-driven economy, and central business district preservation.  Insight assisted the Town in obtaining a grant from the North Carolina Wildlife Commission to address wildlife habitat protection and conservation.  The plan’s implementing strategies address a range of issues including land development regulations amendments, housing affordability, urban design, and community resiliency.
